Groove Pins as per DIN1469 are Pins with Half-length straight grooves and radiused ends to facilitate smooth entry. It is a type of cylindrical fastener that is used in mechanical assemblies wherein the un-grooved portion is used for further applications like retaining washers, circlips, springs, etc. The pin has a straight groove along half its length, which allows it to be inserted into a corresponding hole in another component. Groove Pin DIN 1469 is assembled into a drilled or reamed hole by press fitting securely in order to ensure that the pin is held tightly in place. The pin is held in place by the tension created between the two components around the notched areas, which locks it in place.

DIN 1469 specifies grooved pins with undercut, categorized into three types: A, B, and C.

Type A grooved pins with undercut are primarily used as grooved pin fasteners for securing circlips.

Type B grooved pins with undercut are designed for use with retaining washers.

Type C grooved pins with undercut have radiused grooves

All three types of grooved pins with undercut specified by DIN 1469 are manufactured from various materials such as steel, stainless steel, or other alloys, depending on the specific application requirements.

Groove pins are commonly used in applications where there is a need for a secure, reliable fastening solution that can withstand moderate loads and vibrations. They are widely used in the automotive, machinery, textile, aerospace, die making, jigs and fixtures, as well as in construction and allied industries.
